actually, I have the same problem. i always thought that it could mean

a) things were different - meaning not being as crazy in love with you as i am, i would have retired years ago - so i wouldn’t be here, because i stayed for you

b) or he could’ve meant, if i really thought we could have had a chance, i would have retired so we could have been together… but i didn’t and i won’t, so i’m still here.

however, here sad look may mean that it’s something like the second one. she is not exactly pleased with his answer. oh, i hate o’neill being all cryptic. especially when it comes to sam! grow a pair for god’s sake!

so, you see haven’t got the slightest. anyone ideas?

AT: Ah, it’s such an ongoing issue. Part of me wants to see it wrapped up and part of me loves the fact that it is still tantalizing. I would like to think that they, in the very least, found a really satisfying way to relieve some of that sexual tension. The script will definitely dictate how the relationship will be played.
